How to install a magento 2 module or extension?

In this tutorial I explained how to install a Magento 2 module. This article will help you to installation of magento 2 module.

  • We recommend you to make a copy of your site as staging with live, you can try on staging site then move to live.
  • Before going to do this, please backup your files and store database.

It’s very important to backup all of themes and extensions in Magento before installation, especially when you are working on a live server. We strongly recommend you to do not omit this step.

  • Next step is download any FTP server, example: Filezilla, WinSCP, CuteFTP.
  • Connect with your ftp details which are available in cpanel or hosting provider.

Step 1: Upload the extensions

  1. Login into hosting file directory with FTP details.
  2. Unzip extension directory and upload them into Magento root directory.
  3. Enter the following commands through command line, Connect via SSH using your ssh key (putty, gitbash).
  • php bin/magento setup:upgrade
  • php bin/magento setup:di:compile
  • php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy -f

Step 2: Configuration

Now time to setup it in backend.

Go to Hackrons > Extension Name > Configuration.

Troubleshoot

Q: “Access denied 404 error”

A: Try to Logout and Login again. Follow this guide for more details

Q: Messy page, no style. What should I do?

A: it because of static content is not generated to pub/ folder. Let’s run command to deploy it.

Run following command:

php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy -f
